Sam grew up on a sheep, beef and cropping property in the Wairarapa. This property also has a stock-feed manufacturing business in which Sam has gained experience in processing systems and animal nutrition.

Sam gained a Bachelor of Applied (Ag) from Massey University and was employed by Baker and Associates (Wairarapa) Ltd in May 2000. Sam was employed as a Sheep and Beef Consultant and is still involved in that field.

Sam consults predominantly in the Wairarapa, Hawkes Bay, Southland and Canterbury. He facilitates a ‘Second in-charge’ Discussion Group (2IC) in the Wairarapa, and a Sheep and Cattle finishers Discussion Group in Southland.

Sam is one of six shareholders in an equity partnership on two properties in Southland and West Otago currently running 22,000 stock units. This has been a development project that has more than doubled the carrying capacity of both these properties focusing on a high performing breeding sheep policy. The development involved fencing, water and fertiliser plans and financial analyses. Sam is actively involved with the ongoing management in these businesses, involving setting policies with managers, financial budgeting and reporting to directors and shareholders. This has enabled Sam to get experience on managing a farming business and how to best maximise returns.

Sam also oversees and has assisted in developing the PasturePro and Farm Analysis Bureau (FAB). This expertise and experience in Agribusiness consultancy and management will allow Sam to add value to your business.
